When I search for things on my iPad, ads about what I’ve searched for appear in the YouTube app on my Nvidia shield. The web browser on my iPad is DuckDuckGo, and the Google account I am signed into in the YouTube app on my iPad is not the same account that I am signed into on my Nvidia shield. I’ll give an example. my father is car lease is coming up and I searched for a Honda CR-V hybrid and 20 minutes later I am seeing a ad about leasing a CR-V hybrid… this happens a lot. The only thing I can think of is that my DNS is Google and they are tracking all my devices.

If anybody has any insight to this, I’d appreciate it.

Plus, it gives you more control over the backup process. Since you mentioned not having a computer at home, it’s worth considering using a friend’s or a public computer to set up an iTunes backup.

On your iPhone, go to Settings.
Tap on your Apple ID (your name at the top).
Select iCloud.
Ensure the Contacts toggle is switched on (green).

Access iCloud on a Web Browser:
On a computer or a smartphone with internet access, open a web browser.
Visit the iCloud website: http://www.icloud.com.
Log in with your Apple ID and password.

Export Contacts:
Once logged in, click on Contacts.
Your iPhone contacts will be listed here.
To select all contacts, click on the gear icon in the lower-left corner and choose Select All. If you only want to export specific contacts, hold Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) and click each contact you want to include.
After selecting the contacts, click on the gear icon again and choose Export vCard.
A .vcf file containing your contacts will be downloaded to your computer.

Using the Exported Contacts:
This .vcf file can now be used to import contacts to another phone or email service.
If you’re importing to another iPhone, just send this file to that iPhone and open it, which will prompt the import process.
For Android phones, you can email this file to yourself and open it on the Android device to initiate the import.
Email services like Gmail also allow importing contacts through a .vcf file.

https://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/app-notifications-to-self/#post-4211505 <![CDATA[Reply To: App notifications to self]]> https://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/app-notifications-to-self/#post-4211505 Mon, 22 Jan 2024 17:30:04 +0000 john51054700 App notifications to self are a neat way to stay on top of personal tasks and reminders directly on your phone or other devices. There are multiple approaches you can take:

1. Built-in Reminders Apps:

Many smartphones come with built-in reminders apps like Apple Reminders or Google Keep. These allow you to create custom reminders with titles, descriptions, and even set times or locations for triggers. The app will then send you a notification at the specified time or when you enter the designated location.

2. Dedicated Notification Apps:

Several dedicated apps exist solely for sending yourself notifications. Examples include Notify Me (Android) and Tenta (iOS). These apps offer more flexibility than built-in reminders, allowing you to customize notification sounds, icons, vibration patterns, and even schedule recurring notifications.

3. Third-Party Apps with Notification Features:

Many productivity or goal-setting apps also offer notification features. For example, Todoist lets you set reminders for tasks, while Habitica gamifies goals and sends notifications for challenges and rewards. Choose an app that aligns with your specific needs and notification preferences.

4. IFTTT Applets:

IFTTT (If This Then That) allows you to create applets that trigger actions based on other events. You can design applets that send you notifications based on various triggers, such as a specific time of day, completing a task in another app, or receiving an email with a certain keyword.

Here are some additional tips for using app notifications to self:

Keep it concise: Use short and clear titles and descriptions in your notifications to quickly understand what action needs to be taken.
Schedule wisely: Don’t overwhelm yourself with too many notifications. Schedule them strategically to avoid distraction and focus on the most important tasks.
Customize sounds and icons: Use unique sounds and icons for different types of notifications to easily identify their purpose without even reading them.
Integrate with other tools: Connect your notification app with other tools like your calendar or to-do list to create a streamlined system for managing your tasks and reminders.
Remember, the best app notification-to-self approach depends on your needs and preferences. Experiment with different options and find what works best for you to stay organized and productive.
