What is Teamwork?

Teamwork is a cloud-based project management system that is specifically designed for teams that do client work. Teamwork is geared towards agencies, professional service teams and other creative teams that do client work.

Free forever

The Free Forever plan is best for budget-conscious individuals or small teams of up to five members. With this plan, users get 100MB of storage, tasklist templates, two project templates, full-time tracking and basic integrations with Slack, Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace.

Starter

The Starter plan costs $5.99 per user per month when billed annually or $8.99 per user per month when billed monthly. With this plan, teams get access to 10 project templates, 500 automation actions per month and up to 50GB of storage.

Deliver

The Deliver plan costs $9.99 per user per month when billed annually and $13.99 per user per month when billed monthly. It includes some of the features lacking in the Starter plan, such as team management, project status reports and unlimited client users. The Deliver plan also allows users to run up to 300 projects and increases the storage limit to 100GB.

Grow

The Grow plan costs $19.99 per user per month when billed annually or $25.99 per user per month when billed monthly. It includes workload and capacity management, advanced budgeting, resource scheduling and an increased storage limit of 250GB. With this plan, organizations can personalize Teamwork by adding their custom branding and getting a custom domain with SSL.

Scale

Featuring unlimited project templates, custom fields, 10,000 automation actions per month, unlimited tasklist budgets and retainer management and over 500GB storage, Teamwork’s Scale plan is designed for large enterprises. Teamwork doesn’t advertise the cost of this plan on its website, so prospective buyers should contact the sales team for custom quotes.

Teamwork One

At $190 per month for five users, billed annually, Teamwork One is ideal for those looking to bundle Teamwork’s products together. This plan includes not just the project management features but also Teamwork Grow, Teamwork Chat, Teamwork Desk Premium, Teamwork Spaces and Teamwork CRM.

Teamwork offers a wide variety of project and task management features to help teams get work done.

Project views

Teamwork project views allow teams to view their projects in a way that makes the most sense to them. Teamwork offers four different project views — List, Table (Figure A), Boards and Gantt — and all four views are available on all pricing plans, including the free plan. These different views enable teams to choose the view that works best for their specific project and team, making it easier to manage and track progress. This flexibility allows for better communication and collaboration among team members, as everyone can easily understand the status of tasks and projects.

Task management

In Teamwork, it’s easy to create a task (Figure B), add a description and due date, then assign it to a user. Teams can also set the priority level, add tags, upload files and log time all within the task window. All Teamwork pricing plans also offer the ability to add subtasks and dependencies to tasks, which is a nice perk. Once a task is ready, set a reminder for it, turn it into a recurring task or follow a task that isn’t assigned to you.

Time tracking

The Time Tracking engine (Figure C) is only available on the Grow and Scale plans. The time tracking feature allows users to set task metadata like expected hours, add a description and indicate whether it’s billable. After adding times for one or a series of tasks, users can return to their All Time page, which features any time entries under their associated project task. Teamwork also offers helpful totals of logged, non-billable, billable and estimated hours.

Team communication

Teamwork offers the standard communication features, such as the ability to comment on tasks and @ mention coworkers. It also has a Messages feature (Figure D) that essentially acts like a built-in email tool. Companies also have the option to add the Teamwork Chat modules, which requires an additional fee of $4 per user per month billed annually.

Reporting

Through the Reports button, users can view overall project health (Figure E), utilization metrics and how planned tasks stand up to their deadlines and actual completion date. All of these views can be exported into a PDF, Excel or CSV, allowing teams to take Teamwork data offline or share it with stakeholders in a universally accessible format. Custom reports are only available on the Scale plan, so they require a pretty hefty upgrade.

Teamwork ease of use: 4.5/5

Teamwork offers a clean- easy-to-navigate interface that many users find intuitive to use. However, the sheer number of features can get overwhelming, especially if you are new to using project management software. Teamwork’s customizability enables you to tailor the platform to your specific needs and preferences, but it can also add a layer of complexity and make it more time consuming to set up. Teamwork makes up for this with extensive resources like guides and video tutorials through Teamwork Academy.

What happens if you need help with the software? Here’s how Teamwork’s customer support stacks up:

Support center

Teamwork provides an extensive support center filled with documentation organized by topic. Users can also sign up for training courses via Teamwork Academy, which offers video, written, action-based and interactive eLearning courses. Many users will find the answer to their question in either the help center or training courses.

Customer service channels

If the support center doesn’t answer your question, then you can contact Teamwork through phone, email and live chat for assistance. Teamwork also offers live and on-demand webinars as an option as well, though it doesn’t offer more extensive live training.

Hours

Teamwork.com’s Support team is available Monday through Friday, 7:00am – 12:00am IST (2:00am – 6:00pm EST time). Weekend and after hours support is limited, so if you encounter a problem during that time, you’ll have to wait to talk to customer service.
